The Tampa Oratorio Singers and members of The Palma Ceia Presbyterian Chancel Choir herald the holiday season with two performances of the Christmas portion of Handel’s “Messiah.”
This inspiring Christmas oratorio will be performed on Sunday, December 18 and Monday, December 19 at 7:00 pm. Featured vocalists include Susan Hellman Spatafora (soprano), Robyn Rocklein (mezzo-soprano), John Kaneklides (tenor), and Todd Donovan (bass).
Handel’s Messiah has been in continuous performance since the day of its premiere. This enduring holiday tradition includes favorite choruses “For Unto Us a Child Is Born”, “Glory to God in the Highest” and the triumphant “Hallelujah” chorus.
This much-loved masterpiece will be an uplifting experience, sharing a musical message of the nativity story, using Old Testament prophecies and narration from the New Testament. The concert concludes with congregational singing of “Joy to the World.”
Seating is general admission, and a free-will offering will be accepted to support the Messiah performances. Doors open one hour prior to the performance. Free livestreaming of the concert will be made available on the PCPC and the TOS websites, thanks to the generous support of The Watkins Family Foundation.
