Who We Are
At Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church we seek to welcome newcomers with open arms and invite each one to find a place to call “home,” within the warm embrace of our church family.
BROADLY
We are the Church of Jesus Christ. Jesus called us His “Ecclesia,” His people who are called out of the world to both learn of God and serve God through His teachings. We are members of the Body of Christ throughout the world.
We are also Presbyterian. In the New Testament, “presbuteros” means “elder” and refers to the custom of choosing leaders and advisors from among the members of the church.
Presbyterianism is a denomination of Christianity which is democratically organized to embrace the faith common to all Christians. The local church is governed by elders who are elected from and by the congregation. Active elders make up the decision-making body called the Session.
The congregation of Palma Ceia is a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) We are in ministry and cooperation with many other Presbyterian churches and are members of The Presbytery of Tampa Bay.
