John DeBevoise grew up in Florida, attended Eckerd College, graduating with a degree in philosophy. He met Emalee Derenthal in college, and they have been married for over 30 years. Emalee and he have three children; both Beth and Joe are now young adults, and their youngest, Mary, is a student at Plant High School. John obtained the Th.M., and the D.Min. from Union Presbyterian Seminary. He has been the pastor of Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church since 1995, and served a tour as an associate pastor at PCPC in the 1980s. He has also served as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Gastonia, NC, and on the staff of churches in Roanoke, VA, and Winter Park, FL. He currently serves on the board of The Judeo-Christian Clinic, as a chaplain for the Tampa Fire-Rescue Department, and on the budget team of the Beth-El Ministry to Farmworkers. John enjoys reading history, fishing with friends, and running alone. He has coached seven girls’ basketball teams at the YMCA. He likes to spend time at Cedarkirk, Montreat, and the beach, and making special occasion playlists for iPods. He loves the long unity of the whole church, the guiding principles of the Reformed tradition, and the evangel of the gospel for this day.

Nicole Partin Abdnour joined the PCPC staff in 2006. Nicole was born and raised in Bonita Springs, Florida. She received her BA at Stetson University,and a Master of Arts in Christian Education and a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary and the Presbyterian School of Christian Education. As the Associate Pastor for Congregational Care, Nicole focuses on pastoral care and hospital visitation, staff liaison for congregational care, including Stephen Ministry, Parish Nurse Program, and Hungry Hearts. Additionally she serves as a resource for the Tapestry Women's Ministry, the Presbyterian Women and the Policy sub-committee. She currently serves on the board of Cedarkirk Camp and Conference Center. Nicole is married to Chris. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys reading fiction, kayaking, and camping.

William B. Wallof

Bill was born and raised in Tampa. He has been a member of PCPC since 1949. He is a graduate of Plant High School and the University of Florida where he received a BA degree in political science and history in 1962. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, and studied pastoral care at Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. Upon his return to Tampa, Bill worked as an information specialist for the Hillsborough County Public Library system. In 1997, he took the position of Dean of the Chapel at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church. There he serves primarily in the areas of pastoral care and education. He has also found great satisfaction in his work with foreign missions. Bill is married to Mary Elaine. They have a son, Thomas, who is an architect in Baltimore, Maryland. It has been said of Bill that the Bible and baseball define his life. He enjoys both along with many friends at PCPC. In 2013 Bill retired from active service, and is now present often at PCPC in his Emeritus capacity.

Linda Beckham

Linda Beckham became the Director of Christian Education in1992. Linda was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, but has lived many places in the United States. Linda has her BS in Education from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. She is also a PCUSA Certified Christian Educator and an ordained elder since 1982. As the Director of Christian Education, Linda oversees all ministry and care to children and families. In addition, she oversees the adult education ministry and the recreation ministry. Linda coordinates fellowship opportunities, such as the church picnics, the annual Stone Soup Christmas celebration and Wednesday night dinners. Besides the many hats that Linda wears in her ministry at Palma Ceia, she has a loving family. She is married to Ken and they have 4 children and 2 grandchildren. In Linda’s spare time she enjoys quilting, embroidery, gardening and reading.

Nancy Little

Nancy joined the PCPC staff in 1980, when she founded the Palma Ceia Presbyterian Preschool. She was born and raised in Tampa and in the Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church. Nancy holds a Bachelor's Degree in Developmental Psychology. In addition, she also holds the Advanced Florida Director's Credential. As the Preschool Director, Nancy is responsible for management of the preschool, the delivery of its services to the 100 children and families it serves and the supervision of its sixteen staff members. She serves as a staff resource to the session's committee on preschool, and through their oversight, implements policy as it regards preschool operations. Nancy is married to Tom and is the mother of an adult son, Ryan. She loves to read, write, travel and plant flowers.

David Bonnema

David joined the PCPC staff in the summer of 2008. David was born in Illinois but grew up in Seattle, Washington. He received his undergraduate education from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. At Whitworth David majored in Theology and Sociology while also receiving his Certificate for Ministry. In 2014 David was called as The Associate Pastor for Youth and their Families. In this pastoral role David provides direction and supervision for Youth Ministry, pastoral care for their families, administers the sacraments and preaches, frequently at The Connection Service. David is married to Sarah Bonnema, and they both enjoy hiking, biking and Ultimate Frisbee, and are the parents of two young children.

Nancy Callahan

Nancy Callahan became the Director of Music and Director of the Chancel Choir in the fall of 2006. She is well known in music circles in the Tampa Bay area and previously served for 25 years as the Director of Music and organist at Hyde Park Methodist Church in Tampa. Nancy is also the Director of the Tampa Bay Oratorio Singers, a community chorus in the Tampa Bay area. She has experience directing children’s choirs, youth choirs, adult choirs and hand bell choirs. She is an accomplished pianist and organist. Nancy has her master's degree in music from the University of South Carolina and her BA in piano from Charleston Southern University. She is a past Dean of the American Guild of Organists, a participant in the Spoleto Festival in organ concert and choral conducting, and has conducted European choral performances in major cathedrals.

Since 2005, Roger Scott Sullins has led The Connection Worship Band at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church. He graduated with honors from the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, California, in 1991 and worked for a number of rock bands before moving to Tampa where he started the Roger Sullins Band with Derek Womack and Bryan Sullins. Roger is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in social work. In 2006, Roger attended the Christian Songwriters’ Retreat in Nashville and in 2003 he attended workshops in Vocal Performance, Songwriting and Program Development at the Willow Creek Creative Arts Conference. Roger’s passion for worship and the presence of God combined with his awesome guitar expertise provide an exciting basis for singing the praises of our God.

David Matthews

David Matthews has served Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church as organist since 1991. His background includes study in organ and piano at Indiana University. He was accompanist for the Fred Waring workshops in Pennsylvania, performed with the Dave Brubeck Trio and accompanied the Norman Luboff Choir on national tour for two seasons. He served as accompanist for the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay for fifteen years, and now serves as accompanist for the Tampa Oratorio Singers. He was accompanist for the Tampa Bay Children’s Chorus for sixteen years, has been a part of the Phoenix Chamber Ensemble, and has worked many times with the Florida Orchestra on piano, organ, harpsichord, and celesta. He has been actively employed in the music of the church for fifty-two years.

Wally joined the PCPC staff in 2000. He was born and raised in south Georgia and graduated from Sidney Lanier Senior High School for Boys. He attended Georgia Tech and Clemson University and has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He is a certified professional manager (CM). Wally’s job as Facilities Manager makes him responsible for the operation and maintenance of the building and the grounds. Wally is married to Carolyn, who sings in the Chancel Choir, They have two adult children and two grandchildren. He loves boating, snorkeling and scuba diving.

Betty (B.J.) Johns

Betty (B.J.) Johns was a farm girl outside Murfreesboro, Tennessee but while visiting a college roommate, she got sand between her toes and moved to Tampa, FL in 1971. B.J. finished her B.S at the University of South Florida and received her MRE/SW (Masters of Religious Education with a major in Social Work) from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary of Louisville, KY. B.J. has been a social worker for over 30 years working at Florida Baptist Children’s Homes and 16 years as a school social worker in Polk County, FL. She also worked with Children’s Medical Services-Medical Foster Care Program. For six years, B.J. was a weekend staff host at Cedarkirk Presbyterian Camp and Conference Center in Lithia. B.J. became a member of Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church in 1992 and in 2000 was invited to join the staff of PCPC as the Church Social Worker. B.J. oversees the senior adult ministry, is part of the pastoral care visitation team, offers support and resources to people in need in our church and community; is the staff liaison with the hospitality class, Young At Heart, Friends of Foster Care, Faith Care and social work projects/collections for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA), Beth-El Farmworker Ministry, Metropolitan Ministries and Faith Café. Internationally, B.J. seeks to offer support training for the Mental Health Counselors in Uganda and support the social workers of Papoli, Uganda. She serves as Chair of the Presbytery of Tampa Bay Disaster Team, secretary of FLAPDAN (Florida Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Network) and member of COAD (County Organizations Affected by Disaster). B.J. enjoys being in nature, photography, sailing, kayaking, fun outings with friends, art and craft shows, animal parks and watching her dog and cat play.
