VBS is a week long program from 9am to 12pm run by church and community volunteers for children from PreK 4 through 5th grade (grade completed). Each summer VBS is based on a different biblical christian theme. Children rotate through activities that emphasize the day and weekly theme; classroom lessons, arts & crafts, science/exploration activities, recreation time and of course snack time.
2016 Southwest Safari was based on Trinity, a saguro cactus, and her southwestern friends; snake, hare, coyote, roadrunner and armadillo. Each animal represented a christian trait, a biblical character and a memory bible verse. Throughout the week songs, crafts and lessons on each animal were delivered through a rotation of activities.
