In worship this Sunday we continue our Advent journey as the Christian calendar in a new liturgical year. Advent is a time of watchfulness and waiting as we prepare our hearts and minds to receive the good news that God became incarnate in the birth of Jesus.
Traditional Service (8:30 & 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary)
In the Traditional Service this Sunday John DeBevoise will be preaching. The scriptures from Luke, about John The Baptist, help teach us how to prepare ourselves for the arrival of Jesus, God’s Messiah. And The Letter to the Philippians calls for us to have faith that God will prepare us for the work of Jesus within us.
The Chancel Choir will sing “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” and congregational hymns include “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear.”
Connection Service (9:00 a.m. in the Gym)
David Bonnema will be preaching from Matthew 1:1-6,16; which gives us the genealogy of Jesus. The Praise Band will lead songs including “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Joy To The World (Unspeakable Joy)”.
The Living Nativity at 7:00pm on the church Courtyard Lawn will serve as the Vespers service for this evening.
